Company Accountant

Creighan Contracts are currently looking for an experienced individual to join our team as Company Accountant.

 

The role of Company Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operation of the company, reporting to the Managing Director. You will work alongside our Admin team, Operations team and our Quantity Surveyor.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts, monthly sales, and cost reports per project, weekly cashflow reporting.
  • Managing key relationships with bank, accountants, and insurance brokers.
  • Manage the finance function. This involves full knowledge of all finance elements of Construction Projects from commencement to completion. Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable & Receivable and all subcontractor payments. Revenue returns for P30, VAT and RCT.
  • Prepare payment runs for review and ensure they are in line with the cashflow forecasts
  • Reconciling bank accounts.
  • Responsible for weekly and Monthly Payroll. Maintaining all employee HR files and annual leave records.
  • Manage and monitor the ongoing and future financial performance of the business to ensure management can optimise decision making.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports for Quantity Surveyors/ Contracts Manager
  • Analyse, compose and communicate a company’s financial position
  • Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and conduct analysis versus actual.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial tasks as required

Skills & Requirements for the Company Accountant

  • Coordinate and manage staff to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial managers at different levels of the organisation
  • Flexibility to fulfil other roles and responsibilities at a similar level within the group
  • Ability to manage tasks and changing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience in the construction industry an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent excel and general IT skills
  • Have high attention to detail excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organisation
  • Experience with standard costing desirable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of Surf Accounts & BrightPay an advantage, but not essential

Qualifications

  • Recognised Accountancy Qualification. (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Three plus year experience in a similar role
  • Advanced working knowledge of finance and accounting concepts
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentational)
  • Team Player, communicative person with a can-do attitude, time flexibility
